Tracking and Impact of Environmental Production Restrictions in Tangshan

According to a follow-up survey conducted by SteelHome on August 27 covering 21 sample steel mills in Tangshan, most mills have scheduled maintenance shutdowns at the end of the month. Previously, many mills in Tangshan had received verbal notices requiring blast furnace production cuts of 40% during August 31 to September 3.

Based on the confirmed blast furnace maintenance feedback received by SteelHome so far, it is estimated that 27 blast furnaces in Tangshan (including those already under maintenance) will undergo shutdowns, reducing daily hot metal output by around 104,800 tonnes. The cumulative output loss from August 31 to September 3 is expected to reach approximately 387,900 tonnes, which falls within the reasonable range of the prior survey’s estimates.
